Is AI Giving You Imposter Syndrome?!

Whether you’re anxious that AI will make your job obsolete or you’re nervous about falling behind because of your limited AI knowledge, you’re not alone: Four in 10 workers name AI-driven job loss as one of their primary fears.

We know AI can feel scary, but the reality is: it’s not going away, and embracing it (in a way that feels authentic to you) can make it a whole lot less intimidating. Here’s where to start:

🔎 Experiment

Pick one to three AI tools that feel most relevant to your role—and ignore what LinkedIn thought leaders say you have to adopt. The goal isn’t to master AI overnight; it’s to stay curious and open enough not to get left behind.

🚫 Identify your boundaries

Just because AI might make you more productive doesn’t mean you need to or should take on more work. Know where you draw the line and how you want to regulate your usage so you don’t contribute to hustle culture, inaccuracies, discriminatory outcomes, negative environmental impacts, or embedded and inserted bias. Plus, don’t forget that a little friction-maxxing can be a good thing.

💪 Be proactive

Ask your clients, boss, or colleagues questions about their plans for AI adoption, and follow suit by being prepared with ideas inspired by their plans. Instead of reactively trying to fit yourself into their AI expectations, you can help define them. Remember: AI is new to everyone, not just you! Plus, being proactive will show them what a valuable team member you are. 😉 A robot could never!

🤓 Educate yourself

Read, watch, or listen to these to get up to speed on all things tech and the future of AI:

📚 Read: Some of our fave AI newsletters include The Deep View*, Superhuman AI*, and The Rundown AI.

💻 Tune in: The AI Advantage Summit (April 23–25) is a free virtual event led by Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi, and world-class AI experts—designed to help you figure out AI once and for all. No fancy tech background required.*

🍿 Watch: Coded Bias, a doc that follows the push for the first-ever U.S. legislation against bias in algorithms after MIT researcher Dr. Joy Buolamwini discovered that facial recognition does not see dark-skinned faces. Check out our podcast episode with Dr. Joy here.

🎧 Listen: Hard Fork, a podcast that keeps you updated on the rapidly changing world of tech.

TL;DR: If you catch yourself second-guessing your value in the age of AI, remember this: AI doesn’t have your past experiences, your intuition, or your ability to read between the lines. It’s a tool—not a replacement. And it’s definitely not something you need to rely on to prove your worth.
